Think about how you would like your ideal love to be; now make yourself into your ideal love.
You would not want to ask anyone to be different or to change, would you? Each person is the way they are for a reason (or many reasons.) But you can’t help them to be different or change unless they ask you (which is unlikely.)
Instead, if you become the way you would like your ideal love to be, then eventually your ideal love will come to you because you will be the ideal love of that person.
So what are you waiting for?
Oh yes… first, you need to get your degree… and then you need to get that job… and you want that particular person to love you… but that person loves someone else and you can’t control that… and you need money and more money… and the list goes on. You keep postponing shaping yourself into the person you would like to be – to be the ideal love for your ideal love. (Is there any other possible way?!) You keep telling yourself that there are all of these requirements and things you need to have or do before being able to be yourself, to create a work of art that is the beautiful person you would like to become. And then what happens? Maybe years pass, and you become weak, ugly, moody, and unbearable to yourself.
Are you going to wait until you retire?
It is never too late to make a change, but it is important to value the time we are given. Eventually, everyone dies, and, in the meantime, it is essential to be present and live every day. What if you were terminally ill? Would you just wait to die? Do you need to be dying to want to live, to really appreciate life and the life of others?
Also, the idea of becoming our ideal love is part of our responsibility to set an example. As the world becomes more overcrowded and interconnected, this responsibility becomes more urgent. The way we are sets a tone and invites others to become their ideal loves too. How we act and live is a proposition to a way of being.
This process will take time. Becoming your ideal love is about patiently working on your habits. As soon as you realize that this is what you must do, don’t hesitate to start. Don’t leave it for tomorrow… you may not be here to take on the task.
